Our Mission: “The Canandaigua Rotary Club is committed to be a dynamic and collaborative service organization. We embody the Rotary mission statement; “Together we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change across the globe, in our communities and in ourselves”

The many and varied charitable causes of our club are primarily funded by several fundraising efforts held throughout the year.  Our effort to make the world a better place, one community at a time, is fueled by your support.

Our Holiday Flags Program

For an annual subscription price, volunteers will place a large 3×5-foot American Flag on an 8-foot pole in front of your house on four major national holidays

Join your neighbors in proudly displaying the American Flag in front of your home on major national holidays. You can sign up at any time throughout the year.

Our Charitable and Community Efforts
Your support of our fundraising efforts goes directly to support several charitable and local community efforts.
End Polio Now
Your donations also go to support the End Polio Now program providing free polio vaccinations. End Polio Now has helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries. We have reduced polio cases by 99.9% worldwide and we won’t stop until we end the disease for good. Learn more…

Our History

Your Canandaigua Rotary Club is part of Rotary International, the world’s first service club organization, which was founded in 1905. Today, Rotary has more than 1.2 million members in 35,000 clubs in over 200 countries worldwide. Rotary International is one of only two organizations (the other being the International Red Cross) that has a PERMANENT seat at the United Nations!

Rotary club members are volunteers, from all walks of life, who work locally, regionally, and internationally. Internationally, we have seven areas of focus.

  • Disease Prevention and Treatment,
  • Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene
  • Peace and Conflict Resolution / Prevention
  • Basic Education and Literacy
  • Maternal and Child Health
  • Growing Local Economies
  • Supporting the Environment

Our motto is “SERVICE ABOVE SELF”, and our members live by the Rotary FOUR WAY TEST (OF THE THINGS WE THINK, SAY OR DO):

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

We apply these principles to our projects locally, regionally, and internationally.

The Rotary Club of Canandaigua, NY, was founded in 1919 and takes pride in the good it does in our community and in the world. In the past decade alone, we have contributed over $100,000 to our many and varied charitable causes. Among many other projects, we have assisted in countries all over the world, have worked to eliminate polio from the face of the earth, have sent, and have hosted exchange students from around the globe, have funded and supported a children’s village for orphaned and vulnerable children, made significant donations for the upkeep and improvement of Thompson Hospital’s emergency room, Sonnenberg Gardens, Camp Onseyawa for children with disabilities, and numerous small projects locally and abroad.  WE ARE PEOPLE OF ACTION!
